Hidden Features of Android

Android is a great little operating system. It is packed with great features, amazing hacks and tricks to save your time.

But how much do you really know about your phone or tablet? Sure, you can make  calls and text, but we bet there's something in this article  you didn't know about.Read on to find out!

 1. Enable developer mode

Ok, this is one of the most popular tricks, but it's still important, so we'll include it.

Go to Settings > About phone and tap  your phone's build number seven times. A countdown will appear on the screen, followed by a message that says "Congratulations, you are now a developer".

2. Change animation speed

For the most part, the latest Android phones already feel very fast. However, some low-end phones only have 4GB of RAM, and in extreme cases only 2GB. One solution is to change your phone's Windows animation scaling, transition animation scaling, and animator duration scaling from 1x to 0.5x.Okay, so it won't actually make your phone any faster, but it will make it feel faster.

Go to Settings > System > Developer Options and scroll down about two thirds of  the list to find the required options (developer mode must be enabled first).

3. Clear App Defaults

It's annoying once a link opens in a very sure app instead of within the browser. It may well be a YouTube link, a tweet, or a Facebook page—you'll find yourself waiting around whereas your phone shuts down Chrome (or your browser of choice) and fires up one thing else.

It's simply fixed.

visit Settings > Apps and notifications and realize the app that keeps opening. Once there, faucet on Advanced, scroll all the way down to Open by default, press it, so choose Clear Defaults.

If that does not work, attempt doing the same along with your browser app as well.

4. Quickly amendment Your Wi-Fi Network

Oddly, a way to quickly switch between Wi-Fi networks isn't terribly obvious. Sure, you'll be able to visit Settings > Network and web > Wi-Fi and alter it there, however there should be a quicker way, right?

Well, there is!

Swipe down double from the highest of your screen to open the Quick settings menu, and rather than sound on the Wi-Fi icon (which disables it), tap-and-hold on the icon. you will forthwith be a listing of all the networks in your vicinity.

5. Quickly Access the short Settings Menu

Speaking of the short settings menu, did you recognize you do not really want to double swipe so as to access it?

Instead, a synchronous  two-finger swipe can have identical effect.

6. forged Your Screen

Are you a Chromecast owner? If so, you'll be able to simply mirror your mechanical man screen (and individual apps) by victimisation the cast function.

simply open the short settings menu and hit Screen cast. Your device will realize your Chromecast (assuming it's on the same native network), and you are sensible to go.

It's nice for taking part in games on a bigger screen, showing off photos to family and friends, or playing your music through a louder set of speakers. although several apps, like YouTube, have an infatuated forged button inside the app for even easier access.

7. Look for Annoying Notifications

Do you keep getting  annoying app notifications but  not sure which app is causing them?

There is a simple solution: just long press on the notification in question and your device will tell you.

 8. Smart Lock

Smart Lock is super useful.Eliminates the need to use a keyguard when you're at home or in another "trusted" environment.

You can use GPS, specific networks, your face, or even your voice to prevent your phone from locking, making the experience much faster and hassle-free.

Go to Settings > Security > Smart Lock to set it up.

 9. app pinning

If you have kids who use your phone regularly, this is a great way to make sure they don't accidentally pay big bills or watch age-inappropriate content.First, you need to enable the feature (oddly, it's disabled by default). To do this, go to Settings > Security > Advanced and scroll down to pin the app and slide the toggle at the top of the window.

To pin a screen, open the app, tap the summary button (the square),  then tap the pin icon.

You can protect the pinned screen with a PIN if you want.

10. Use the wizard while waiting in queue

. If you're trying to call your ISP, cable provider, utility company, or  any other company  you have an account with, there are two things you can count on: terrible customer service and spending too much time  in a  queue.

Fortunately, queues can be a thing of the past with the Google Assistant. If you're in a queue, just tap the three dots in the top right corner and select Wait for me. The assistant notifies you when someone finally answers, and  even keeps a transcript of everything that's been said in the meantime.Note: At the time of writing, the feature is only available on US toll-free numbers.
